CrisMy name is Cristina Costa and I currently work at the University of Salford as the Learning and Research Technologies Manager.

My role is to champion innovative means of convening and disseminating research activity, and promote collaborative research ventures with the use of new web technologies.  I keep a blog about it here. I was named Learning Technologist of the Year 2010 by the Association for Learning Technology (ALT).

Since 2011 I am also a Visiting Research Fellow at the Manchester Metropolitan University (Faculty of Health, Psychology and Social Care), UK, where I collaborate with Professor Carol Haigh in applying and researching the use of Social Media in Health Care contexts.

My research focuses on the use of participatory media in a changing environment. I am particularly interested in analysing the advantages and also the implications of using the social web for teaching, learning and research. Digital Scholarship is currently one of my central research topics.

Other topics of interest include web 2.0, Curriculum Innovation, Digital Identity, Digital Storytelling, ePortfolios, Communities of Practice, Social Networking, PLEs and PLNs, Mobile Technologies, Teacher Training.

I am also a PhD student in Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL). I am looking at the Networking Practices of Academic Researchers in a changing environment through a Bourdieuian lens.
